Gilbert Leonard Cook

Gilbert was the beloved husband of Erma B. Cook for 56 years. Loving father of Joseph (Tina) and Christopher (Julie) and proud grandfather of Brandan.

He was a graduate of Fordson High School and a University of Michigan alumnus.

Gilbert served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was a former teacher, counselor, assistant principal and principal with the Detroit Public Schools for 37 years.

After retirement he tutored elementary students in the Livonia public Schools. He volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program in Redford. Lastly, he and his wife enjoyed the world traveling.

Gilbert's family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday November 15, 2015 from 4-8 pm at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd (east of Newburgh and I-275) in Livonia.

His life will be celebrated with a Funeral Service on Monday November 16, 2015 at 12 noon, with in state 11:30 am, at First United Methodist Church, 777 W. Eight Mile Rd. (east of Beck) in Northville.
