

Husband of Beverly, father of Courtney (Joe) Coccia, stepfather of David (Nancy), Karen (Gordy). “Oupa” to Alyssa (Jake), Cristina, Daniel (Ioana), Joy, Grace, and Anjali. Godfrey is also survived by a sister Hazel, brother Rodney and many nieces and nephews in S. Africa. He was preceded in death by 6 siblings: Thelma, Fred, Aubrey, Basil, Claude and Pauline.
Godfrey served in the South African Army in World War II beginning with the Abyssinian Campaign and thereafter to the Libyan desert. Where, he was attached to the British 8th Army until after the Battle of El Alamein when his unit returned to S. Africa for a 6 to 8th month period during the formation of the 6th S. African Armored Division. This division then joined the allied forces for the commencement of the Italian Campaign after which he returned to South Africa in 1945 to be demobilized. Godfrey came to the United States in 1948.
He was employed by Ford Motor Company as a production analyst for 32 years. After “retiring”, he was offered a part time position by Tokico of America, an automotive supplier. After 5 years, he fully retired allowing he and his wife Bev, to travel extensively including frequent trips to S. Africa and winters in Florida.
