It is with extreme sadness and heaviest hearts that we announce the passing our beloved husband and father Hanna Yousef Abukhader, 66-years-old. He is preceded in death by his brothers Michael and Jeries Abukhader, as well as his sister Nawal Fakhouri.
He is survived by his wife Fahimeh and daughters Amanda and Deema. Hanna also leaves behind his brothers Rafael and Jubrail and sisters Nelly Sirhan and Layla and Reem Abukhader, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Hanna moved to America when he was 17 years old from Jordan to study at Eastern Michigan University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. While he was a scientist at heart, he also had a deep love for music, especially when it came to playing the tubleh and dancing debkeh. He was highly involved in the Jordanian society in his youth and used to travel the country with his friends playing music and sharing his Jordanian heritage with others.
Travel was his second passion— he loved visiting new countries and learning about other cultures. He also loved nature, and nothing could keep him away from a good ocean or mountain view. When he could not travel his favorite thing was to watch videos of other travelers exploring different countries and take down pointers for his own adventures.
He was a quiet man but was always ready to debate about politics or give a history lesson to anyone willing to listen. His sense of humor, deep wisdom and unwavering kindness will be forever missed.
Due to COVID-19 his family is accepting condolences through phone and social media only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Building Fund.
Arrangements will be announced soon. Please keep the Abukhader family in your prayers during this difficult time.
