

Along with his 2 brothers and 2 sisters, Harold was raised in Detroit. Following his graduation from High School Red supported his family by working for Western Electric. He retired in 1976 as an Area Supervisor. He was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers. Upon retirement he kept active. Deciding with his wife, Carrie, they moved out of Detroit for the suburbs. A self taught carpenter with a keen eye for detail he was unable to find a home to suit their needs so Red took it upon himself to design and build their home in Brighton. He continued using his carpentry skills building cabinets, shelving units and other items for family member throughout his retirement.
Harold was active in his community as well. He served as an usher for many years at St. John's Catholic Church in Howell. Red was also a frequent volunteer for the Library for the Blind in Pontiac, where he would assist them in repairing their audio book machines.
Above all else Red was a proud family man. His children and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Harold was the loving husband of the late Carrie. Cherished father of Ronald (Judy), Thomas and Sharon and second father of Dee Dobleske. Proud grandfather of the late Michael Lyons, Timothy (Myong Hui) Milis, James (Claudine) Milis, Carylyn (Ronald) Baase and Laurel (Scott) David and great-grandfather of Donnielle, Liana, Brandon, Shalen, Nathan and April.
The Lyons family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday September 10, 2015 from 3-8 pm with a Rosary Service, 7 pm, at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd. (east of Newburgh and I-275) in Livonia.
His life will be celebrated with a Funeral Mass on Friday September 11, 2015 at 10:30 am, with in state 10 am, at St. Edith Catholic Church, 15089 Newburgh Rd. (south of Five Mile Rd) in Livonia.
Red will be laid to rest next to his wife Carrie at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
