

Ida Rose Sapienza, age 92, of Farmington Hills, Michigan, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026. Ida was born on January 16, 1934, in San Pietro, Cosenza, Calabria, Italy, to the late Giovanni and Rose Naccarato.
Loving wife of Salvatore, whom he described as a blessing for 70 years. Beloved mother of Peter (Teri Main), Mary, Sam (Linda), Sandy, and Michael (Lisa). Proud grandmother of Vince (Christa), Nicole (Mike), Joe (Shawna), the late Tina, the late Natalie (Knox), Jackie, Nicole, Sarah, Alyssa, the late Rachel, Angela, Dominic, Anthony, Nina, and Maria. Cherished great-grandmother of 22. Dear sister of Cristina "Carol". She will be deeply missed by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents and granddaughters, Ida was preceded in passing by her siblings, Mike, Antoinette "Toni", and Mary.
Ida Rose immigrated to the United States at just three years old through Ellis Island. She was raised in Detroit and graduated from Chadsey High School. Growing up, Ida was known for being a tomboy and a chatterbox, always getting herself into various mischief. Upon graduation, Ida worked at Michigan Mutual Insurance, where she met her future husband through a friend. Sal said it was love at first sight. While raising her family, she held various jobs at places such as Loch Erin, located in Irish Hills, Onstead, Michigan, where she was the lead salesperson, Drugland, and F&M, where she was promoted to manager. She was beloved amongst her coworkers wherever she worked.
Ida was a talented artist whose medium was ceramics and paintings. She had a green thumb and tended to her favorite flower and namesake, roses. She enjoyed attending concerts and going to the movies. Most importantly, she was a devout Catholic who cherished time with her family. She prayed to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Blessed Mother Mary daily. She hosted large family gatherings where she treated everyone to her famous spaghetti and sauce. Ida will be remembered for her classy demeanor and unique sense of humor.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 14, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Road, Livonia, MI 48152, with a rosary service at 7:00 pm.
Ida Rose will lie in-state on Friday, May 15, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am at St Gerald Church, 21300 Farmington Rd, Farmington, MI 48336, followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 am.
Her burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery on Friday at 2:30 pm.
