

James A. Baker, 76, of Northville, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on December 21, 1944 in Detroit, to David and Viola Baker, their third of four children. Jim graduated from Dearborn High School and then attended Michigan State University for his Bachelor of Arts in Business. Subsequently, Jim went to Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio where he earned his Masters in Business Administration. He met his wife, Cheryl, at Revival Tabernacle Church and proposed to her thirteen days later. They married on July 27, 1968. Together they raised two children. Jim was an executive in the automotive industry. "Jim was known for his loving kindness, generosity, and wisdom. He loved God and loved people," his family said. In his spare time Jim loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors up north.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Cheryl (nee: Vaughn); son, Jim (Mary) Baker. Jim was pre-deceased by his daughter, Kimberly Schrandt. Jim is also survived by his mother, Viola Baker; sister, JoAnne (Earl) Sobeck; sister-in-law, Margaret (Jack) Baker. Grandchildren (children of Jim & Mary Baker): Joshua, Wesley, and Evan. Grandchildren (children of Doug & Kim Schrandt): Brianna, Luke, Kayla, Emma, and Nathan; and extended family grandchildren (children of Doug & Jordan Schrandt): Calvary, Boaz, and Ezra. Jim was also pre-deceased by his brother, Jack Baker and sister, Glena Baker.
Friends and family may visit from Noon until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Northville Christian Assembly, 41355 Six Mile Road, Northville, Michigan 48168.
