

Passed away May 3, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Cincinnati to the late David and Mildred Hartman. Professor at Schoolcraft College for 30 years. Beloved brother to Jean and Ronald (Vicki) Hartman. Loving uncle to Lori Hartman and Sherri (Mark) Colley. Survived by great niece Brooke Rogg and great nephews Luke and Connor Colley. Will also be missed by his many friends.

BIOGRAPHIES
James R. Hartman (Artistic Director). Professor Hartman received the Schoolcraft College's President's Recognition award last year and in March will receive the International League of Innovation award in Chicago. He is the author of two published books: Shakespearean Tragedies Revisited: An Actor's Edition and An Actor's Edition of Shakespeare Revisited. He has also received the honor of being included in the 2006-2007 oh Who's Who Among America's Teachers, the 2009, 2011-2016 of Who's Who in the World. Professor Hartman received the honor of being chosen by the Screen Actor's Guild to serve on the nomination committee to select best picture of the year, best actor/actress, best supporting actor/actress for 2010. His theatre credits include performances at Meadow Brook Theatre, Masonic Temple, Cincinnati Playhouse-In-The-Park. Edgecliff Theater, and Mariemont Playhouse. Opera credits include performances in seven operas with the New York Metropolitan Opera. His television credits include the title role in Lincoln at Little Rock, and a starring role in Jimmy B. and Andre with Alex Karas and Susan Clark. His television commercials include: United Foundation, Wella Balsam Shampoo, Delco Radios, Highland Appliance and others. Professor Hartman performed in 17 industrial and educational films and holds three degrees in theatre from the University of Cincinnati and Indiana University. He joined the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada for stage workshops and studied the Alexander Technique and Bartenioff Movement with top European scholars. Professor Hartman served on an advisory board PBS television, WTVS Channel 56, and also served as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for Colligate Press. He was a reviewer for The Essential Theatre by Oscar G. Brockett for Wadsworth Press. In addition, he serves as the two-year college representative for the third district to the Association for Theatre in Higher Education which has taken him to Toronto, Washington D.C., Chicago, San Diego, New York, San Francisco, New Orleans, Denver and Los Angeles where he has continued to study theatre. Professor Hartman was a theatre student of Oscar G. Brockett and Agnes Moorehead, from Bewitched, and is a member of Equity, the Screen Actor's Guild-American Federal of Television and Radio Artists, and the Association for Theatre in Higher Education.
