James "Jim" Schettenhelm

Jim was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University. Following school he went on to teach elementary school, spending many years in the Livonia Public School system with the third grade class. In his free time Jim was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. He played baseball in High School and continued on into adulthood and also volunteered with the Livonia Youth Football. He loved spending time outdoors enjoying frequent trips to the UP, and loved to hunt. Above all Jim loved his family and friends, especially his two children. He will be deeply missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Jim is survived by his loving children Nolan and Emily and their mother Karla. He was the beloved son Robert and the late Janice, dear brother of the late Rev. John G. (Rachael) Schettenhelm and Donna (Greg) Knack. Dear uncle of Luke, Adam, David, Kyler and Kaylin.

James' family will receive friends on Saturday January 18, 2014 from 2-4pm at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd. (east of Newburgh and I-275) in Livonia.

He will lie in state on Sunday January 19, 2014 from 1pm until the time of his Funeral Service, 2pm at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, 14175 Farmington Rd. (south of Five Mile Rd) in Livonia.

Jim will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery in Fenton, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers donations are appreciated to a memorial fund set up in Jim's name at First Merit Bank.
