Jean Marie McSorley, born February 2, 1949, passed away on June 8, 2013. She was 64 years old. Jean enjoyed a loving and lifelong friendship, beginning early in grade school at Epiphany Parish, with Marianne (Hurst) Templin, who was always there for her, especially after Jean suffered a diabetic coma, which left her partially incapacitated in her latter years. Marianne many times put her life on hold so as to help her dearest friend.
Jean spent much of her career as a bookkeeper, but she was also a creative and resourceful homemaker, cake baker and decorator, crafter, and seamstress, often taking in mending when necessary and making many outfits for her young daughters. The role in which she took the most pride throughout her entire life was being a devoted mother to her girls.
In her earlier years, she also sang with the Mercyaires at Mercy High School, studied ballet for many years with Marjorie Hazzard, did some fashion modeling, and was an airline attendant for Delta Airlines.
Jean had a nurturing spirit, a compassionate heart, and a way of making people feel special, loved, understood, and comforted. Her easy laughter, sense of humor, and big heart will be cherished in the memories of all who knew her, especially her family, closest friends, and the loving staff at Howell Care Center.
