Jean was the eldest of four children born to Howard and Clarice Long. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, David Long, and his wife, Frances “Fran” Long; and her sister, Virginia “Ginny” Pancake. She is survived by her brother, Richard Long, and his wife, Katherine “Kitty” Long.
Jean is survived by her only child, Craig (Margie) Senkowski; her granddaughters, Shaina (Ben Kastler), Lauren (Jose Cabrera), and Diane Senkowski; and her great-grandchildren, Avery, Colton, Jordyn, Peyton, and Connor.
Jean retired from Ford Motor Company in 1991 and filled her retirement with volunteering, travel, and time with family. For many years, she volunteered with the Festival of Trees, Greenfield Village, and the Michigan State Fair. She was also a member of Sons of the Desert, a Laurel and Hardy fan club, and traveled around the country to take part in club events. Jean had a great passion for sewing and quilting, and the quilts she made for her granddaughters are still treasured and used today. Jean also enjoyed attending her granddaughters’ school functions and sporting activities, and she looked forward to baking Christmas cookies with them each year.
Jean will be remembered for her generous heart, her love of family, and the traditions she carried forward with care.
A funeral service will take place at 12:30 PM on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. Jean’s family will receive friends and visitors at the funeral home that day from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
