Jennifer Lynn Mason-Cleaver, 51, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020. Jennifer was born on May 28, 1968 in Rockville, New York to William E. and Elizabeth L. Mason. Elizabeth Mason passed when Jennifer was only nine years old. The family moved several times and Jennifer considered Dayton, OH her home.

Jennifer is survived by her husband, William, of twenty-four years; son, Alex William (Savanna Beaudet); daughter, Holly Elizabeth; sister, Kerry Rivas; step-brother, Alan Hawkins; step-mother, Jean Mason, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Sue Cleaver; brothers-in-law, Tim and Christine Cleaver and Ryan and Stephanie Cleaver. Also survived by nieces, Katie and Maya; nephews, Austin, Jamison, Jacob, and Nathan.

She attended University of Dayton and received her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University-Kokomo. On April 1, 1995, Jennifer married her soul mate William. Jennifer taught in pre-schools in the Livonia area and was currently employed by Livonia Public Schools. Her love of children is what made her so engaging and successful. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and always had a phone in her hand to capture a picture of the moment. Her heart was her children and she was their biggest fan. Volunteering as a "team Mom" for both ice hockey and Pom Pon, and she was also a Girl Scout Troop leader for her Hollys troop. She had lots of social affiliations and groups, most enjoyably her Book Clubs and Bunco. Jennifer loved travel, camping, day adventures, but her “happy place” was the sand bar at Lake Missaukee, Lake City, MI.

Our dear friend Jen, I have such fun memories with you and the pom mom mafia and Housepants book club. I looked forward to our get togethers and meet-ups at our "secret lunch spot" and at George Murphys for our boombas. You were always so kind and considerate wanting to know how everyone in our family was doing and willing to support Ev's new dance team--so thoughtful always. We talked a lot about Lake City because our cabin is one town away. We discussed bringing our boat over to your lake for some fun on the sandbar. I know that would be a good time! We will miss you so much and will promise to keep your memory alive and speak of you often at our gatherings. Bill, Holly & Alex, we are here for you for whatever you may need. Jen spoke so highly of all of you and she will forever be shining her light on your lives. Our family sends our love and prayers to your family.
With love,
Heather Shymanski

Bill, Alex, and Holly and family ~

The love and light Jen lived her life with will carry on in all of us. It will inspire us to live life to the fullest and to be the best and kindest versions of ourselves we can be. We will honor her memory and keep her spirit alive. She is with us now and always, shining down that special Jen light that only she has 💖✨

We were blessed for Sam to have Jen as a preschool teacher (2005-06), and I was thrilled to meet up with Jen again when the girls made Livonia Pom! Always grateful to LP and SHS Pom for the close friendships it brought us and the amazing times we all had with Jen and our families! I loved our "dates" at Time Too Savor where we would make dinners and catch up on all the latest pom drama lol!! Are there was ALWAYS pom drama, right?

All my love and prayers and healing energy are with each of you and your family. 💖 When things quiet down, reach out and the pom mom mafia will be right here for you, whatever you need!

Jen was a wonderful caring, memorable Niece (Nephew Bill's wife). We thought so much of you Jen. Knowing that you were always making smiles among your families, and friends. You were the one that got us all together, unfortunately not enough. I don't think we ever could have had enough of Jen. We have great memories and that smile will never leave us. REST in Peace Jen, LOVe

I remember first meeting you as a smart, sassy 8 year old like it was yesterday. It wasn’t long before you were welcoming my children into the world. And you never stopped being all things to all children including your own. The world seems a little dimmer right now without you in it but I know there’s a bright shining new star gazing down on us all. My love to your family and friends at this heartbreaking time

Aunt Jen was a light in so many lives. I am still in shock that you have been taken from us so soon. With living far apart and having our own lives, it’s so easy to lose touch but I always knew you were there and would be if we ever needed each other. I remember being in your wedding, I remember being able to fly by myself to you in Kokomo, IN, you teaching me how to drive, our girl talk, getting to go to a college class, meet ups with your numerous friends. So many wonderful memories throughout the years with our family. What I remember most from these times was how much family meant to you and how much your friends meant to you. You always had plans with multiple friends. You always kept in touch with each and every one of them. It was awesome to see and be a part of. You were an inspiration in how to treat people you cared about. I love you and I will miss you. Billy Bob, Alex, and Holly - you already know what an amazing, warm, fun person Jen was but I hope you know the rest of us feel the same. I am so, so sorry for your loss. I wish I could be there to celebrate her life with you. Lots of love, Stephanie, and my boys, Ethan & Braedan

Jen,
When I think of you, the word that comes to my mind is “fun”. You had a great passion for life and made everyone around you experience that joy. Although we’ve been friends for years, through Bunco and Book Club, I feel that our friendship was getting stronger, especially since becoming MSU tailgate buddies. I mourn what our friendship could have become. But more importantly, I mourn the loss of a wonderful, kind, caring person. And if I feel this strongly, after only knowing you for the last 5 years or so, my heart goes out to your family and close friends, as I’m sure that they now have a hole in their lives where there was once your effervescent spirit. You were truly one of the most wonderful people that I have ever met. God Bless you.

Your friend forever,
Dawn

Ms. Jen made a huge impact on my son in preschool this year. She went out of her way to introduce herself to my husband and me at a school function in November and I will never forget the kindness and love in her voice as she spoke about how much she enjoyed spending time with our son when she was in his classroom. My son absolutely loved her and will miss her greatly. Thank you, Ms. Jen, for the love and kindness you showed our child. It will not be forgotten. 💗
