John Allen Gjernes, 50, of Livonia, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 16, 2020. John was born on January 3, 1970 in Livonia. John graduated in 1988 from Livonia Stevenson High School. John worked for Blackwell Ford Dealership and later at Ford Motor Company Parts Warehouse in Redford. For many years John assisted his parents at Century 21 Row in Livonia. John loved music and sports. He was an accomplished guitar player and enjoyed attending concerts. He was a member of the St. Aidan Men's Club and participated in their soft ball league. As an outdoorsman, John liked to deer hunt in the fall and enjoyed snowmobiling in the winter. In the summertime John could be found golfing, riding his bike or roller blading. During annual family trips to Hilton Head Island, John would boogie board, play sand golf, and swim with his nieces and nephews. He stayed fit by going to the gym daily. He was generous and helpful at his church and to his neighbors, a real "Good Samaritan" his family said.
