It is with great sadness that the family of John Bricker Harrison announces his sudden passing on Friday, May 29, 2020 from complications related to the COVID19 virus. He was 75 years old. John will be lovingly remembered by his surviving sister, Mary Etta (Charles) Gibson and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah Alean and Herman Harrison, as well as his brothers, Landon (Roberta) Harrison, Robert (Jeannette) Harrison, Thomas (Dee) Harrison and a sister, Martha (Moas) Seay.
John was born in Camden, Tennessee and moved to Michigan when he was very young. He always had an interest in cars and was a very proud retiree of Ford Motor Company where he served many roles in manufacturing during his 30 years with the company. After retirement, he continued to follow company activities and loved talking about Ford vehicles, especially to anyone looking for a new car. He also enjoyed listening to gospel and country music, spending time with family and reminiscing with his relatives in Camden. “Uncle John” was a very fun-loving conversationalist and enjoyed discussions with his nieces and nephews about most any topic of interest. He kept on top of local and national news and would often check in with relatives and friends to hear their viewpoints. Spending time with him was never dull! He had a quick wit and sharp mind, never missing an opportunity to tell a good story…or maybe a tall tale! He had a good-humored charm about him, and he was well known and loved for it, making friends wherever he went. Perhaps one of his best qualities was his generosity. He freely offered help to anyone who needed it, without expecting anything in return. Family and friends loved him dearly and he is deeply missed by everyone.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 2nd from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Harry J. Wills Funeral Home, 37000 W. Six Mile Rd. in Livonia, Michigan. Immediately after visitation, there will be a procession to Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery in Flat Rock for burial and brief graveside service.
