

Kent Roy Nicholson was born in Detroit on November 3, 1943. He attended South Redford’s Thurston High School and graduated in 1962. Following graduation, Kent enlisted in the Marine Corp and serviced for three years.
Kent started his career as a Detroit firefighter in October 1966. He rose to the rank of Engineer. In addition, he enjoyed his ten years as a member of the Detroit Firefighter Clown Team. Kent retired in 2001 after 34 years of service.
Kent enjoyed the outdoors, spending much time hunting and fishing. He owned many different types of boats, one of which he refurbished himself, and campers and trailers. He spent many summers at Haas Lake Campground, and most recently, Waldenwoods Resort, enjoying visiting with friends and touring the park on his prized golf cart. Rides on Kent’s golf cart were loved by many, old and young alike.
Kent is survived by his wife of almost 38 years, Christine (Stackhouse), his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Phillip Rembelski, his son and daughter-in-law, John and Robin Nicholson, his granddaughters, Autumn and Brooke Nicholson, his sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Don Hicks, and many nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.
Kent was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ethel Humphrey, his father, Kenneth Nicholson, his mother and stepfather, Wanda and Malcolm Sterling, and his brother, Daniel Nicholson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Great Lakes Burn Camp and Angela Hospice.
