

She was born on July 9, 1935, in Warsaw, Poland, and spent her early childhood in Nazi-occupied Poland during World War II. Krystina and her family endured the hardships of war, including displacement and the loss of their home during the Nazi occupation. In 1945, as the Soviet army entered Poland, the family fled their homeland in search of freedom and safety. These early experiences shaped the resilience, courage, and deep appreciation for faith and family that defined her character.
After emigrating to the United States, Krystina attended Wayne State University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1957. She met the love of her life, Janusz (John) Sulich, and they were married on August 2, 1958. Together they built a beautiful life and family.
Krystina began raising her family and later returned to Wayne State University, earning a master’s degree in Secondary Education. She began her teaching career in August 1967 at St. Michael’s Catholic School in Southfield, Michigan. A dedicated and passionate educator, she taught for 30 years, leaving a lasting impression on her students. Known for her high standards and warmth, she was respected in the classroom and lovingly remembered by those whose lives she touched.
Following retirement, Krystina and John moved to West Bloomfield, Michigan, where they spent many wonderful years enjoying time with their children, grandchildren and dear friends. In 2024, Krystina relocated to Cedarbrook Senior Living apartments in Plymouth, Michigan.
An accomplished author, Krystina published her autobiography in 2025 entitled And Life Goes On, My Ancestry Our Legacy (My Family’s Life and Survival in War-Torn Poland), preserving her family’s story of faith, family and perseverance for future generations.
Above all, Krystina was devoted to her family. She is survived by her loving children: Andrew (Shawn Mobley) Sulich and Barbara (William) Pichan. She was a proud Babcia (grandmother) to Caroline Sulich (Daniel) Moore, Evan Sulich, Neil (Ashley) Pichan, and Emily (Dominic) Jamett, and a cherished Prababcia (great-grandmother) to Henry and Charlie Jamett.
Krystina’s life was a testament to faith, family and enduring love. From surviving the turmoil of war in her homeland to building a legacy in the United States as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, educator, and author, she leaves behind a remarkable story that her family will forever cherish.
A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Holy Name Catholic Church, 630 Harmon St, Birmingham, Michigan 48009. Krystina’s family will receive visitors at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 am until the time of Mass at 10:00 am. A private burial will follow at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
