Leah Louise Murrell, age 73, passed peacefully on July 8, 2020, surrounded by family. Daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Homze and sister of the late Rosanne Lorenzen. Survived by her daughter Lisa Collins (Ed) and son David Murrell (Marcy). Beloved grandmother of Cassidy, Brendan, Allisyn, Alec, and Andrew. She adored her late canine daughters Bailey and Maggie, and will be deeply missed by Isabelle.
A graduate of Dominican High School in Detroit and a 40 year State Farm Agent in Dearborn, Leah enjoyed spending time at her cottage in Leamington, Canada, which was always open to entertain family and friends. She loved music, notably Frank Sinatra, Rod Stewart, and The Rolling Stones, and movies like Casablanca, The Way We Were, Dirty Dancing, and Mamma Mia.
As the matriarch of the family, she treated them to musicals like Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables and instilled a love of reading with a love of food, wine, and travel. Leah enjoyed trips with her children, dinners with family, and was her grandchildren’s #1 fan at baseball, softball, and soccer games.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to St. Jude’s.
