

Leon Dale Horn, 99, of Livonia, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2021. Leon was born on December 1, 1921, in Indian River, Michigan to Dale and Irma (Kinert) Horn, the oldest of their three children. Leon graduated from high school in Indian River, after which he worked for the CCC cutting timber before moving to Detroit. The Second World War began interrupting Leon's education as he enlisted in the Air Force. He rose to the rank of Sergeant and was stationed in Milan, Italy. He served honorably, and was decorated for war injuries. After the war ended he met and married Eva (Selby) and remained married for 51 years until her passing in 1996. Together they raised their son Roger and step-son Bobby in Livonia. Throughout his working life Leon was an Engineer for General Motors for 40 years, owned and worked a farm in Imlay City, Michigan, owned a restaurant, owned and maintained apartment buildings. When not working and after retirement Leon loved to travel with his motor home throughout the southern United States. He was active with Temple Baptist Church (later Northridge Church) since 1945.
Leon is survived by his son, Roger (Londa) Horn, grandchildren, Kelsey (Nick) Dykhuis, Kenneth Horn, and Karley (Kyle) Evans, step-grandchildren, Joseph (Haley) Gatt, Nicholas (Emma) Gatt, and Cory Gatt; great-grandchildren, Aiden Dykhuis, Aurora Dykhuis, Abbey Dykhuis, Abel Dykhuis, Jojo Dykhuis, and Landen Evans.
Leon was preceded in death by wife, Eva; second wife, Innez; step-son, Bobby Horn; Leon's parents, brother and sister.
Friends and family may visit on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Harry J. Will Funeral Home - 37000 West Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. Burial with military honors will follow the funeral at Parkview Memorial Cemetery.
