Lucille H. Schirmer

One of four children raised on a farm in Mascoutah, Illinois. Lucille was preceded in death by brothers Russell Stapf and Wayne Stapf, and is survived by her cherished sister Margie Siegel (Ken) of Swansea, Illinois.

She attended and graduated from Mascoutah High School and worked at Scott Airbase in WWII where she met her husband to be, Clarence Raymond Schirmer of Ferndale, Michigan. Lucille and Clarence moved to their house in Livonia in 1950 where they raised their two children, Richard and Lisa. Her loving husband Clarence preceded her in death in 1992. Lucille continued to reside in her beloved Livonia home for 63 years enjoying her family, neighborhood and church community, Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church.

In addition to raising her children, Lucille worked in the banking industry for many years and later became a Realtor in her 50’s. She continued to work in this field until her late 80’s. She also worked on the local election committee and served as the secretary/treasurer of the Livonia Women’s Senior Golf League. She loved to golf and played until she was 90 years old. Lucille became an ice skater after the age of 40 and always enjoyed dancing.

Lucille moved to Byron Center, Michigan in 2014 to be close to her daughter Lisa and her family – husband Michael Powell and son Benjamin who loved and cared for her while she lived at Byron Center Manor.

Lucille is also survived by son Richard Schirmer and his wife Florence Walraven of Sweet Home, Oregon; their children Jason Van Eck (wife Trisha), Lesley Keeney (husband Stefan), and Robert White (wife Courtney); and great grandchildren Colyn Van Eck, Alana Van Eck, Taylor Conn, Jada Autry, Desmond White and Ivy White.

Lucille’s family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 3-8 pm and on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 10 am until the time of her funeral service, 11 am, at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd. (east of Newburgh and I-275) in Livonia.

She will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia.
