Luigi Mastrofrancesco

Luigi Mastrofrancesco, age 75, of Northville, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on July 24, 2026. He was born on December 13, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, to Italo and Edda (Gugni) Mastrofrancesco.

Luigi's life was grounded in his faith in Jesus Christ, and he found great comfort in knowing that his hope and salvation rested in Him. His faith shaped the way he loved his family, served others, and lived his life that reflected the character of Christ. Even at his most recent and unexpected hospital stay, he passionately shared Jesus with every nurse and aide he encountered.

At the age of 18, Luigi proudly entered the United States National Guard and served his country before receiving his honorable discharge. He later attended Western Michigan University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering. Luigi dedicated 32 years of his professional career to Ford Motor Company as a Materials Engineer and Technical Specialist in the chassis group, retiring in 2006. Never one to slow down, he continued sharing his expertise as a consultant for ZF and Cooper Standard for another 12 years, retiring fully at the age of 67. Engineering was a God-given gift, where he thrived and gave all the glory to God for his accomplishments including over ten US patents.

More than any professional achievements, Luigi's greatest pride and joy was his family. He met the love of his life, Ann Marie, when they were teenagers after seeing her walking down the road and simply saying hello. That chance meeting blossomed into a lifelong love story. They were married on August 10, 1974, and shared nearly 58 wonderful years together and 52 years married, building a life centered on Christ and family. Some of his happiest memories were made during family vacations at their happy place - the family cottage at Burt Lake in Indian River. He especially enjoyed family gatherings and relished reliving his second childhood alongside his children. He delighted in one on one time with his children where he imparted his wisdom and gave the best pep talks. Luigi had a passion for travel, particularly motorcycle trips and cruising the world with Ann.

Throughout the years, he was a devoted member of several churches, including Ward Church, Northridge Church, and most recently Oak Pointe Church. He was a wholehearted follower of Christ who devoted countless hours to studying and meditating on God's Word. He was a faithful member of Bible Study Fellowship for 22 years and was able to put his studies into practice through his faithful service in the special needs ministries at Ward and Northridge Churches, as well as Samaritan's Purse.

After being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2021, Luigi received the gift of life through a double lung transplant at the Cleveland Clinic on March 27, 2025. Through the selfless gift from his lung donor, God’s abundant grace and mercy, and Luigi’s miraculous recovery, he lived a year longer than he would've otherwise. His family is forever grateful for this gift.

Luigi will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Ann Marie Mastrofrancesco; his children, Luigi (Alisha) Mastrofrancesco, Angela (James) Miller, Marta (Mario) Fabiilli, and Gina (Andrew) Pope; his cherished grandchildren who lovingly called him Nonno, Gianna, Nina, Francesco, Sebastian, Marcello, Luigi, Nico, Giovanna, Marianna, and Alina; his sister, Paula (Carlo) Belli; his brother-in-law, Joseph D. Cecchini; and his nieces, Tatianna (Jacopo) Colicchia and Annalisa Belli. He was preceded in death by his parents, Italo and Edda (Gugni) Mastrofrancesco.

Luigi will be remembered for his strength in the Lord, unwavering work ethic, generous heart, steadfast faith, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the memories he created, and the countless lives he touched. He will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.

A Memorial Service will take place at 12:00 pm on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. Luigi’s family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a Memory Sharing Service at 7:00 pm, and again on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 12:00 pm. The 12pm service will be available through livestream, please see link below. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the Transplant House of Cleveland or Samaritan’s Purse, two organizations close to Luigi’s heart.
