

Martha Merea Heiman, age 89, of New Baltimore, formerly of Livonia, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Left to cherish her memory are her son, James (Faye) Hensley; her three stepchildren: Sandra (James) McKernan, Kelly Heiman, and Gregory Heiman; and her fifteen beloved grandchildren: Anthony McKernan, Justin McKernan, James Hensley, Tanya (Joshua) Williams, Angela (Brian) Capadagli, Dawn (Scott) Rubert, Erica (James) Hodge, Timothy (Mandy) Hensley, Andrea (Charles) McPhail, Patricia (Robert) Laudeman, Marvin (Carrie) Bivens, Michael (Lisa) Sanchez, Brian (Gina) Sanchez, Stacey (Thomas) Tranchida, and Misty (Brian) Elkins. In addition, Martha leaves behind many cherished great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces, and nephews.
Martha was born March 20, 1935, in Bell County, Kentucky, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Dan and Ethel (Collins) Patterson. Martha devoted her professional life to a career in assembly; she built circuit boards at Sterling in Livonia for many years until her retirement. She and Larry Heiman were married February 7, 1983, and shared many wonderful years together until Larry’s death in October of 2019. For many years, Martha and Larry enjoyed their time living in the villages in Florida. Martha was strong in her Baptist faith, and was a devoted member of the congregation at Missionary Baptist Church in Farmington, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. In her free time, Martha could always be found working on one of her quilting projects, or nurturing her deep connections with her grandchildren. She loved animals, and she loved taking care of small children. Martha was a wonderful woman who will be dearly missed.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ethel; three of her children: Dennis Hensley, Carol Brown, Jayetta Slone,and Rhonda Heiman; her loving husband, Larry; and her four siblings: James Patterson, Pauline Wyatt, Christine Ingram, and Eugene Patterson.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, July 15, 2024, at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. Martha’s family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday, July 14, 2024, from 2:30 pm until 8:00 pm, and again on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of service at 10:00 am, with lunch to follow. A burial will take place on Monday afternoon at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park, where Martha will be laid to rest with her husband Larry.
