He is survived by his loving wife, Diana Clark Messner, a sister in law, Helen Clark of Alma and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Gladys Messner and a step brother and wife, Robert (Blanche) Schmidt.
After high school, Martin was drafted into the Army, but was able to enlist in the Air Force, where he proudly served from 1951-1955. He served another four years in the inactive reserves.
He had over a 30 year career employed by Chrysler. He worked as a corporate auditor after working at the missile plant in Sterling Heights and Dodge Truck.
Martin and Diana spent most of their married life in Livonia and were long time members of Ward Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
A memorial gathering will be held at Ward Church, 40000 Six Mile Road, Northville, Michigan, on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., with a memorial service to begin at 11:00 a.m. at the same location.
He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
