Mary was preceded in passing by her beloved husband of 34 years, Michael Gregory DeBrincat; her parents, Pacific and Elizabeth Vella; and her brother George.
Mary was born and raised in Corktown, Detroit. She was proud of her hometown and Maltese community, earning the nickname "Corktown Mary." Growing up, she attended Holy Trinity Grade School and St Vincent High School. Following graduation, Mary went on to work for Blue Cross Blue Shield as an account manager and later worked as an Assistant Registrar for Madonna University.
Mary loved anything Christmas, visiting Belle Isle to watch the freighters pass by, and never missed an opportunity to explore Mackinac. She was most passionate about raising her family and the memories made along the way. Known as "Mom" to her family and friends, who will miss her wit and sense of humor. A woman of strong faith who will continue to be present in the lives of those she loves.
Mary will lie in state Thursday, July 10, from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM at St Aidan's Church, 17500 Farmington Rd, Livonia, Michigan 48152, followed by a funeral mass beginning at 7:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, her family asks that you request a mass be said in her memory or a donation to the Fr Solanus Casey Center.
