Mary was the beloved wife of the late William Frank “Bill” Himm, with whom she shared a beautiful life together. She was the loving mother of William (Carol) Himm, Linda (Dennis) Pesonen, the late Michael Himm, Jeffrey (Beverly) Himm, Laura Harrison, Lisa (Tom) Kalesavich, Deanna (Bob) DuBois, and the late Maureen (Paul) Cartwright. She was the cherished grandmother of 22 grandchildren, great-grandmother of 30 great-grandchildren, and was looking forward to welcoming her first great-great-grandchild. Mary was preceded in death by her four siblings.
Mary graduated from Cass Technical High School in Detroit. It was through mutual friends that she met the love of her life, William “Bill” Himm, and together they built a loving family. Mary was a proud resident of Livonia for 70 years, where she created countless memories and touched the lives of many.
Mary found great joy in being a devoted stay-at-home mother, dedicating herself to raising her family and creating a warm and loving home. After Bill’s passing, Mary began a new chapter in her life, starting work at the age of 55. Her final job was with American Community Insurance in Livonia where she spent 18 years and retired at the age of 79, showing her incredible work ethic and determination.
Faith was an important part of Mary’s life. She was a longtime and devoted parishioner of St. Priscilla Catholic Church, where she was deeply involved in church activities. She volunteered with St Vincent de Paul, bingo, helped in the church kitchen, prayed the Rosary, and brought the Eucharist to those unable to attend Mass. Mary loved staying active and serving others, always finding ways to share her kindness and generosity.
Beyond her church involvement, Mary enjoyed spending time at the Livonia Senior Center, where she participated in line dancing and community theatre. She also enjoyed performing with the Beyond Belief Senior group in Novi. Mary loved reading, watching her favorite game shows, and completing word puzzles. However, her greatest joy was always her family. Mary treasured every moment with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she never missed an important event or milestone in their lives.
Mary will forever be remembered for her unforgettable smile, her kindness toward others, her strong faith, and her unwavering devotion to the people she loved. Her loving presence, warmth, and generosity will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m., at Harry J. Will Funeral Home – Livonia.
