Michael Bullock, beloved husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and faithful servant of Christ, passed away on September 23rd. After a short battle with pancreatic cancer, he received his promotion to heaven while surrounded by his loving family.
Mike was the devoted husband of Mary Beth for 60 years, a partnership built on love, faith, steadfast devotion, and endless grace. Together, they raised two sons, Kevin (Tracey) and Keith (Jessica), who were the pride of his life. He was also the cherished grandfather of Emily, Amanda Diaz (Colton), Alex, Sarah (Baily), Ella, and Anna, each of whom brought him endless joy.
Mike's faith guided his every step. He was a lifelong member of the same church, Fellowship Bible (which also had past names of Grace Baptist and Faith Bible). He served his church family as a youth group leader along with Mary Beth for 25 years and as an elder for 40 years. He was also a proud member of the Gideons, faithfully sharing the message of God’s Word to others. Mike wanted everyone to know the love of Jesus and His saving grace.
Mike was a proud graduate of Spring Arbor University with a degree in Math and Physics. He was in the first 4 year graduating class of the school. For over 40 years, Michael dedicated his career to teaching secondary mathematics in Detroit and Livonia public schools, shaping the minds of countless students with patience and care. Mike wanted all of his students to succeed.
During the summer and in the evenings, he enjoyed building both family homes where he and Mary Beth raised their children. In addition, he enjoyed playing softball on his church team, traveling to Florida, Arkansas, Gatlinburg, and Branson, and cheering passionately for all his Detroit teams—the Tigers, Lions, Pistons, and Red Wings. As many of you know, Mike also had a taste for Hunt’s ketchup.
Above all, Michael loved his Lord Jesus Christ and family deeply. His legacy of faith, kindness, humor, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
