Loving husband of the late Sylvia. Beloved father of Norbert Jr. (Trudi), Michael (Barbara), and Jo (Ron) Marisi. Cherished grandfather of Andrea (Jeff) Hollandsworth, late James Giczewski, Bryan (Stephanie) Giczewski, Gianna Marisi, and Gabriel Marisi. Proud great-grandfather of Tanner, Brody, Brooks, and Parker Hollandsworth.
At the cornerstone of Norbert's life was his dedication to Christ and using Him as an instrument to serve others. He was an active member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church before becoming a parishioner of St. Colette Catholic Church. One of his proudest achievements was earning his fourth-degree knighthood. He was passionately involved with the Fr. Alfred Saylor and Dr. Thomas A. Dooley Knights of Columbus councils.
In addition to his devotion to his faith, he also felt called to serve and protect his country. After attending St. Casimir grade and high school, he served in the Navy for four years as a corpsman. He enjoyed sharing his stories and his appreciation for medical personnel.
Upon exiting the military, he began his 39-year career with Cadillac Motor Division. He worked in several managerial positions and was instrumental in helping the company earn the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award in 1990.
In his spare time, Norbert enjoyed activities that revolved around spending time outdoors with loved ones. Throughout his life, he found joy in playing and watching various sports, such as softball, volleyball, bowling, and especially golfing. Relaxing in nature, whether that be camping, fishing, going on cruises, or even taking a walk with his wife, was where he found solace. Most importantly, he was an active participant in his family's lives and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 16, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd, Livonia, MI 48152, with sharing of memories at 6:30 pm and a Knights of Columbus rosary service at 7:30 pm.
Norbert will lie in state on Wednesday, June 17, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am at St. Colette Catholic Church, 17600 Newburgh Rd, Livonia, MI 48152, followed by a funeral mass beginning at 11:00 am, where he will receive Navy honors. He will be laid to rest at St. Hedwig Cemetery & Mausoleum.
