Patricia Ann "Pat" McHenry, passed away May 9, 2019 at home surrounded by her loving family. Pat was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 15, 1928 to Joseph S. & Rose (Knoth) Kennedy, the seventh of their eight children. Pat graduated from Immaculata High School. She grew up on the same street with the man who would later return from WWII and become her "lucky" husband, Charles. Together they would have seven children and raised them in Dearborn Heights and Redford. If you looked up the following words in the dictionary: love, kindness, self-sacrifice, beauty, loyalty, steadfastness, faith, hope, and charity her face would be included with the definitions. However, the greatest of these was her love. Pat was an avid bridge and pinochle player. She enjoyed watching movies and baseball. Her affinity for baseball was borne from her playing softball when she was younger. Faithfully attending Our Lady of Grace, Pat used her voice talent to sing in the choir for many years. One of her favorite pastimes was to volunteer at the Fisher Theater. Above all, loving her family was her most cherished gift to behold and share. She was known for her humor and quick quips. Beyond her wit, she was known to be gentle and compassionate exhibited by her attentive listening skills.

Pat is survived by her children, Charles "Rocky" (Anne Marie) McHenry, Kathleen (Parvez) Dara, Janice (Bill Bialowicz) McHenry, Bill (Molly) McHenry, Mary (Bob) Calleja, and Sharon (Scott) Turske; sister, Loraine Phillips; sister-in-law (and dear friend) Rosemary Kennedy; grandchildren, Kelly (Matt Speck) McHenry, Erin (Justin) Collinash, Michael (Christie) McHenry, Bridget (Josh) Ostlund, Ray Dara, Noreen (Chris) Heffernan, Nicole (Chris) Struble, Kristen Struble, Kaitlin McHenry, Kylie McHenry, Sean McHenry, Meghan Turske, Kyle Turske, and Brian Turske; Great-Grandchildren, Cayleigh Heffernan, Kendall Heffernan, Brynn Heffernan, Lennix Collinash, Dominic McHenry, Andrew McHenry, Liliana McHenry, Mikey Ostlund, Alex Ostlund, and Liam Ostlund. Pat was pre-deceased by her husband "Mr. Lucky" for 64 years, Charles V. McHenry, Sr. and first-born son Gerard: siblings, Rosemary (Tom) Dwyer, Greg (Marge) Kennedy, Richard (Chris) Kennedy, Everett (Marie) Kennedy, Eugene Kennedy and Tommy Kennedy.

Another angel has gone to heaven. I have so many fond memories of your mom back when Kathy and I were in high school. Your house was like my 2nd home because I spent so many days and nights there and ate plenty of grilled cheese sandwiches with you guys. Your mom was truly like a mom to me and she will be missed dearly.

Hold on to all those memories that are tucked away deep in your heart because that is what will keep you going and it will keep your mom’s memory alive.

Sending all my love and prayers to the entire McHenry family.

Xo,
Cathy Watts

Aunt Pat was the kindest, most soft-spoken and loving person in the world! Our family would visit in Redford and the combination of 10+ rambunctious kids between the two families created a tsunami effect on Grayfield St. that only Aunt Pat could endure. Aunt Pat was the eye of the storm amongst the tasmanian devils that spun around her and she always maintained a calmness even Mother Teresa could be proud of. And with my dad, Tom "the bomb" McHenry and Uncle "Chunk" McHenry leading the way, Aunt Pat was the only person on this planet that could have survived! I will treasure the peaceful memories of Aunt Pat and try to gain a sliver of her patience through life's twists and turns. To all the McHenry children (even you Rocky!), I have been in awe of the tender care you've provided to your mom over the past few years and it's a testament to the fact that you have inherited her loving heart. God Bless, Tommy

Aunt Pat was one of the sweetest and kindest people I have ever known. She always had that sweet smile on her face and was all she could do when Uncle (“cousin”) Chuck went on with his constant shenanigans! I will always remember her with that sweet smile and will miss her but my heart is happy knowing she’s reunited with Uncle Chuck and I know they are playing cards with Bill and Audrey❤️...Kathy, Rocky, Janice, Bill, Mary & Sharon...your precious mom will always be with you tucked inside your heart and remember she’s at peace and holding on tight to your dad’s hand. Love you all so much.
