Philice Ruth Widmann

Philice R. Widmann, age 84 of Livonia, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 12, 2023. Loving wife of Lino for 62 years. Beloved mother of David (Susan), Felicia (David), James (Satia), and Carl (Natalie). Proud grandmother of six grandchildren; Ailea, Tehya, Domenico, Elise, Jason and Lina. She is also survived by her sister Mary and many cousins, nieces and nephews whom she adored. Philice learned her love of nature including birds, trees, flowers, the art of gardening from her mother. One of her greatest pleasures was sharing this enthusiasm with her children and grandchildren; teaching them the joys of nature.

Philice attended Eastern Michigan University, where she met the love of her life on a blind date. Upon graduation, she started her career as a teacher of the blind, before transitioning to raising her four children full time. She introduced them to camping, astronomy, classical music, and nature while giving them a deep appreciation for self-responsibility and learning. Later, she returned to school to earn a nursing degree, practicing at St. Mary’s Hospital in Livonia. She was passionate about gardening, volunteering, knitting, solving puzzles and traveling the world with her husband. She lived her life in the present always ready for the next adventure.
