R. E. Shrader "Skeeter"

R. E. “Skeeter” Shrader was born on July 14, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Chester and Dorothy Shrader. He passed away on July 22, 2015 in West Bloomfield, Michigan with his family by his side.

At the age of 18 Skeeter joined the Operating Engineers Local 324 and sustained his membership for 55 years. After earning his Associate’s Degree joined Millgard Corporation in Livonia where he worked for over 30 years before his retirement 18 years ago.

Skeeter stayed active throughout his life and retirement. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, spending much time at his cottage up north in Lincoln, Michigan. Although he loved the outdoors, his real passion in life was his family. A proud husband, father and papa he had the kindest heart and soul and will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

For 53 years he was the much loved husband of Barbara. Dearest father of Jeanette (Brian Willett) McCarthy and Theresa (Brian Kluba) Shrader. Cherished Papa of Heather, Rachel and Sarah. Great-Papa of Lily. Brother of Colette Mackley-Dawson and Nancy Gates.

The Shrader family will receive friends for a Memorial Gathering on Friday July 24, 2015 from 3-8 pm and on Saturday July 25, 2015 from 12 pm until his life is celebrated with a Memorial Service at 1 pm at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd (east of Newburgh and I-275) in Livonia.
