Ralph Wilson Kerr passed away peacefully on December 19, 2026, at the age of 94. He was born in Highland Park, Michigan on January 12,1931 to his parents, George and Mary Kerr, later moving to Dearborn Heights.
Ralph was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by his brother Charles Dale (preceded in death by his wife, Jane) Kerr, nieces Linda (Dave) Yudasz, Diane (Dave) Resseguie, Kathryn (Bill) Kercorian, his six great nephews and nieces, a great-great nephew and his cousins.
In 1928, George and Mary (Sneddon) Kerr, Ralph’s parents, emigrated from Scotland to the United States. They established their residence in Highland Park, joining extended family members living within the same neighborhood. The memories from those days filled Ralph’s heart with joy, along with his favorite vacation spot at the Twin Streams Farm in Whitby Canada, a working farm owned by family members.
Ralph was inventive and always curious about how things functioned from an early age. He attended Wilbur Wright vocational high school in Detroit where his talents in electronics and automotive technology further developed. After graduation, Ralph began his career as a TV repairman in the early days of television, later joining Ford Motor Company’s Woodhaven Stamping Plant. There he worked as an electrician for over 35 years repairing complex machinery and keeping the production lines moving.
His bond with his brother Dale was something to admire— uniquely sharing the same birthday yet 4 years apart. As an uncle, Ralph was generous with a gentle spirit. He enjoyed putting on slide shows to share family moments captured with his camera throughout his life. Ralph left a lasting impression on all our hearts.
A private service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest surrounded by family.
