Randy Begin was the youngest of 9 children born to Ernest and Lillian (Hardy) Begin on January 20, 1961, in Dearborn, Michigan. He suddenly passed away early in the morning on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the age of 62 at his home in Northville, Michigan. Randy is survived by his wife, Joan, two daughters, Lily (Randal) Holloway and Madison, son, Joel (Emily) Press as well as his two grandchildren, Lucia and Carson and so many more who truly loved him. Randy spent his childhood in Dearborn where he played the role of the youngest sibling well, typically getting his way with a plea to mom. He loved to play baseball with his older brothers and spend time with all of his cousins, nieces, and nephews at his parent’s home. Randy spent most of his life in Dearborn; a proud graduate of Dearborn High School where he played baseball and ran track as well as a foremost member of a softball league with many of his greatest friends following high school.
Randy’s first marriage to Denise [Sobota] in 1988 brought him his first fur baby, Dutchess, and his two pride and joys, Lily and Madison. Randy loved being a father and taking care of his kids more than anything in the world. From making every single school lunch for 18 years, to blow drying the girl’s hair after every shower when they were young, or helping to come up with poems for school, there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his family. As they got older, the projects got bigger; Randy was always ready to help paint a house, build a bookshelf, or entirely redo bathrooms. While plumbing and electrical were not his forte, you could count on him to give it a shot anyways. So much of his family members’ homes are filled with his touch, including his family’s cottage in Houghton Lake that he was remodeling with his brothers.
Randy and Joan first met in 1983 through Joan’s brother and Randy’s great friend Ron. When they started dating in June of 2003, the next chapter of Randy’s life truly began. They shared so many great memories and experiences together with their children including trips to Florida, California, Las Vegas, Washington D.C., and so much more. He got to play golf at Pebble Beach, watch the ball drop in New York City, watch his son, Joel, marry the love of his life, welcome his first two grandchildren to the world, and walk his daughter, Lily, down the aisle. He also got to eat at some incredible restaurants although he refused to expand his palate and forever hated tomatoes and onions. Randy truly lived an incredible life and did not waste a single moment.
It was genuinely impossible not to love Randy; all those who knew him can attest to the fact that he was the most selfless, caring, and generous man. Randy never failed to put a smile on your face or know exactly the right thing to say. He remembered every birthday and anniversary and would be sure to remind everyone else as well. He touched the lives of all those who knew him in a way that no one will forget. We will celebrate Randy’s life with a visitation on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 1:00PM to 8:00PM at Harry J Will Funeral Homes, 37000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. An in state will occur Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 9:30AM at St Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 Haggerty Rd, Plymouth, Michigan 48150, followed by a Birthday Celebration of Life service beginning at 10:00AM.
