96, husband of the late Lillian, who passed away January 15, 2013. Ray was born January 15, 1922 in Detroit, son of Edith and Ignace Sevakis. He was married to his beloved Lillian for 71 years.
Orphaned at age twelve, Ray trained as a tool and die maker at Ford Trade School. He served his country as an airplane mechanic during World War II. He returned home to start a family and to spend many years in night school obtaining his high school diploma and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Laurence Institute of Technology. He was employed in the auto industry and went to work for the Ford Motor Company as one of the pioneer software engineers for computer assisted design. He loved his work and did not fully retire until age 78.
Ray was a member of the Lutheran Church and made every effort to live his life in a manner worthy of Jesus, his savior.
Ray was a devoted father and grandfather to his children, Nancy (Wayne) Brimhall and Clifford (Janette) Sevakis; grandchildren Cory (Mariza) Brimhall, Cheryl (Mark) Montgomery, Justin Sevakis, and Robin (Sanghoon) Sevakis; great grandchildren Megan DuFresne, Amalie and Sabrina Brimhall; and great-great grandson Michael DuFresch. He was preceded in death by his sister Lucy and his brothers Presley and Frank.
Ray will be remembered by family and friends as a man who never stopped learning and loving.
