Richard Jack Coffman was born in Dearborn, Michigan on May 30, 1937 to the late Clarence and the late Rose Coffman. He was one of two children. Richard passed away peacefully in Livonia, Michigan on June 15, 2020 at the age of 83.
Richard was the beloved brother of the late James Edward Coffman who passed away in June 2014. He is survived by his sister in law, Janice Coffman; Five nieces and nephews, Michael (Monique) Coffman, Catherine (Duane) Hoeppner, James Daniel Coffman, Mary (Jared) Kowalewsky, and Celeste Coffman; fourteen great nieces and nephews; and five great-great nieces and nephews. Richard will also be greatly missed by his parish family, especially Jo Johnson who was his caregiver until he went to be with the Lord.
Richard worked as a store clerk and retired from Rite Aid. He was a devout Catholic and belonged to St. Suzanne-Our Lady Gate of Heaven in Detroit. He started attending St. Sabina Catholic Church in Dearborn Heights when his health began to deteriorate, and there he found his new parish family. He loved music and especially loved to sing. He also enjoyed photography. He had a kind heart and a big smile. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Richard’s life will be celebrated with a Funeral Mass at 11:00am on Friday, June 26, 2020 at St. Sabina Catholic Church gymnasium 25605 Ann Arbor Trail, Dearborn Heights, Michigan 48127. Final viewing will begin at 10:30am at the church. Mass will be led by Father Raymond Lucasinski, C.M.M.. The music director for the Funeral Mass will be Joan Iwankovitsch.
Richard will be laid to rest with his family in St. Hedwig Catholic Cemetery, Dearborn Heights, Michigan.
