Robert W. Cadotte

Beloved husband of 63 years to the late Ruth Marie (Stager) Cadotte. Loving father of Margaret (Richard) Schneider. Cherished grandfather of Pamela (Kenechukwu) Anako, the late Justine Schneider, and Julianna (Garrett) Sculthorpe. Proud great-grandfather of Ambrose, Theodore, Christian, and Zoe Anako, and Benjamin and William Sculthorpe. Dear brother of Thomas Cadotte and brother-in-law of Evanthea Cadotte. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen Cadotte, his siblings Dorothy (Robert) Stager and Theodore Cadotte, and his sister-in-law Elizabeth Cadotte.

Robert served in the army in France and Germany during WWII. Upon returning he embarked on his education and career in law and banking, serving Manufacturers and Comerica bank until retirement. After retirement, he embarked on a new adventure as a volunteer with the Archdiocese of Detroit and made many new friends.

Robert and Ruth were founding members of St. Damian Catholic Parish in Westland, Michigan, where they were actively involved in many parish ministries. Robert devoted much of his time and energy to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, living out his deep faith through service to others. During his latter years, he studied the Greek language, making new and interesting friends with whom he shared a bond. He also made many wonderful and warm friends during his years living at Marycrest.

Robert had a deep appreciation for staying active and engaged. He especially enjoyed sports—handball, racquet sports, and golf were among his favorites. He found joy in competition, exercise, and the camaraderie that came with it. Outside of sports, he loved traveling with Ruth, exploring new places and building lasting memories together. Robert’s warmth, generosity, and gentle presence touched everyone who knew him.

Robert will be greatly missed by all who were touched by his kindness and generosity, especially his growing family.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152, with a Scripture Service at 4:30 PM

Robert will lie in state on Saturday, July 5, 2025, from 9:30 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Mary, Cause of Our Joy Catholic Church, 8200 North Wayne Road, Westland, Michigan 48185.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul or Gianna House.
