Robert was a loving husband to Geraldine (maiden name Le Lievre) for 64 years. It was a true love, and was obvious to all that he adored his wife every living moment. Bob, as he was known to his friends and family, was an exceptional father, teacher, and inspiration to his six children: Noreen, Ann Marie (Jerry), Jim (Cori), Mark (Alecia), Joan (Saul) and Edward (Tamara). Robert was an only child and his father was born in England, while his mother was born in Ireland. It was common for Bob to take his family of eight on many vacation expeditions including trips to the Smoky Mountains, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Mammoth Cave and numerous family fun trips to Sault Ste Marie, Michigan and Lake Superior spending memorable time with relatives.
Bob attended Sacred Heart Seminary for eight years where he earned his Bachelor Degree in Theology. He went on to receive his MBA from the University of Detroit. Bob owned Fiesta Motors AMC Jeep in Plymouth, Michigan where he became a certified Master Mechanic. He was a proud member of Daniel A Lord Knights of Columbus and also The Kiwanis of Plymouth, Michigan. In previous years Bob was an active member of St. Edith Church in Livonia where he volunteered many services.
In his retirement, Bob enjoyed R.V.ing with his wife across the country, and throughout his life enjoyed canoeing, golfing, and most of all being an avid reader and LaBatt Blue. Spending time with family was commonplace for Bob where in his younger years he would think nothing of spontaneously taking his two young granddaughters on his own for an adventurous car trip to the zoo, or to the playground and ice cream shop. A sweeter, gentler, or more inspirational leader of a father, husband and grandfather could not be asked for.
Bob had been ill for years with a form of dementia, and passed peacefully with his family surrounding him Friday, January 29, at Medilodge of Plymouth. He was graceful throughout the two decades that he was challenged with this illness.
