Lupton, Robert C., age 75 of Livonia, passed away May 21st at Botsford Commons skilled nursing facility after a long illness. He is survived by Jane, his loving wife of 51 years, daughters Katherine (Michael Cantrell) and Christine, and grandchildren Justine, Rebecca, and Cole. Also survived by his brother Walter (Sylvia) Lupton and sister Laraine McCain (Leonard), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert worked as a design engineer for Grumman Aircraft during the late 60s and early 70s on the Apollo Space Program, and then spent 30 years as an electrical engineer at Ford Motor Company’s headquarters in Dearborn. He retired in 2003. Robert enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, his walking club, golfing, photography, and following the stock market.
Visitation will be held from 3pm to 8pm, Friday, May 25 at Harry J. Will Funeral Home 37000 Six Mile Road in Livonia, and funeral services on Saturday, May 26th at 12pm at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 574 S. Sheldon Rd in Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the engineering colleges at Wayne State University (giving.wayne.edu/donate) or the University of Georgia (gail.uga.edu/give).
