

Robert Lee Petsch, age 82, of Detroit, passed away with his daughter and son by his side on October 17, 2025. Born on February 17, 1943, in Detroit to Walter and Louise (Neubauer) Petsch, Robert lived a full and meaningful life centered around family, hard work, and simple joys.
Robert worked for many years as a senior accountant before his well-earned retirement. A true sports enthusiast, he loved watching hockey, baseball, and football, and in his younger years, he enjoyed spending time on the golf course. Robert was deeply devoted to his children and was actively involved in all their sporting events, never missing a game.
Known affectionately as “Papa,” Robert cherished his grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them, especially when they were young and he had the joy of babysitting them. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading the newspaper, and indulging in a good chocolate chip cookie.
Robert will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Patricia, whom he married on April 4, 2009; his children, Lisa (Bret) Wilson and Steven (Stephanie) Petsch; and his beloved grandchildren, Paige, Riley, Jack, Jason, and Joshua. His stepson Matthew Gambola.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Louise Petsch; his first wife, Mary Ann (Friedly) Petsch; and his cousin, Jack Irmscher, who was more like a brother to him.
Robert will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
