Ronald L. Spence

Passed away peacefully after a 21 year struggle with Parkinson’s at age 74 on Saturday June 16, 2012 in the care of Howell Care Center and Grace Hospice of Ann Arbor. He was born January 8, 1938 in Detroit. He was the son of Harold and Audrey (May) Spence. Ron graduated from Cooley High School in 1956, lettering in football.

Ron lived a wonderful life in Farmington, for 30 years before moving to Brighton ten years ago. He loved golf, baseball, bowling, playing cards and spending time up north taking his kids water skiing every summer and snowmobiling every winter. Ron especially enjoyed his precious grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his wife, Sharon and children: Laura Szara of Northville, Linda Spence of Peoria, Illinois, Lisa Dunn of Dexter and Gordon Spence of Detroit; nine loving grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Gary at birth.

Visitation Thursday 2-9 pm at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home 37000 Six Mile Rd. in Livonia. Funeral service Friday 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment Glen Eden Cemetery in Livonia. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
