Born in Hamtramck, Michigan, to James and Anastasia Popiel, Rose graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit and lived a life centered on faith, family, and friendship. She shared 71 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Pierre "Pete" Godfroid. While Pete built Omega Models into a successful business, Rose worked as an office manager for Liberty Construction for several years.
A woman of unwavering Christian faith, Rose's love for the Lord guided every aspect of her life. She was a talented painter whose artwork enriched the homes of family and friends, an avid reader, and a gifted creator of needlepoint linens, knitted sweaters, and scarves. Rose was also an exceptional seamstress, sewing clothing for herself, her children, and grandchildren, as well as creating beautiful draperies and curtains for many homes. Most of all, she loved her family and cherished every opportunity to gather and celebrate life's milestones together. Rose also treasured lifelong friendships, some spanning back to her elementary school years.
Rose is survived by her husband, Pierre "Pete" Godfroid; her children, Terry (Mark) Marecki, Michael Godfroid, Lynn (Greg) Zdechlik, Robert (Susan) Godfroid, and Leslie (Steven) Walczak; her grandchildren, Jordyn (John), Brett (Jamie), Jake (Amy), Brynn (Steve), Pete, Aaren (Katie), Ana (Gavin), Jessica (James), Nicholas (Emily), and Sabrina (Nicholas); her 17 great-grandchildren; her sister, Lori Edgar; her brother, James Popiel; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Andrei Marecki; her sister, Anita Macri; her nephew, Dale Macri; and her parents, James and Anastasia Popiel.
A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at the Harry J Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152.
