He was preceded in death by his wife Anna Bjerkness and Wife Siiri “Terri” Bjerkness. Although this man was very humble, he would light up a room with his presence. His wit and humor stayed with him until the very end. Honored to be in his life for 17 years is Leslie Ottino and Cathy Hicks. In Ruben’s last weeks on Earth, they made every effort to make him comfortable- which he deserved, along with the caregivers from “Age with Grace”, “Angela Hospice”, physical and occupational therapists and other staff members from Fox Run and his extended family. Ruben touched so many lives with his tender demeanor, cute smiles, winks he tried to conceal and the best hugs ever. He was a proud veteran who loved his country, baseball and football. He watched his very last Tigers game on September 22, 2014 until the last out. Ruben, you will be so missed, but forever in our hearts.
