Sharon Elaine Spence was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 24, 1939 to Francis and Sadie (Harvey) Avery. She was one of 2 children. Sharon passed away peacefully in Plymouth, Michigan on April 14, 2021 at the age of 81. She was under the gentle care of her family and Angela Hospice.
Sharon was the beloved wife of Ronald L. Spence who has been waiting for her in Heaven since 2012. Devoted mother of Laura (Steve) Szara of Northville, Linda Spence of Waterford, Mi, Lisa (Steve) Dunn of Dexter, Michigan and Gordon (Kelley) Spence of Livonia, Mi. Loving grandmother of Erin & Riley Szara, Audrey & Alex Baetz, Elaina & Ethan Dunn, Trisha (Ryan) Custer, Cody (Marley) Custer and Zack Spence. Great grandmother of Abbi, Ryan and Cody Jr. Custer coming soon. Dear sister of and brother in-law of Barbara “BJ” and Jim Beaulieu.
Sharon is described as a “Mom to all” meaning she was a natural mother to not only her own children, but also to the children of the neighborhood. It was her joy to cater to her kids and their friends. Family, reading and watching for humming birds were her hobbies and she was a “second mom” to many. Sharon and Ronald loved to take the kids to the cottage on Opal Lake in Gaylord, Michigan to water ski in the summers and snowmobile in the winters.
In her retirement, Sharon and Ron moved to Lake Edgewood Condo’s in Brighton where she joined a book club and “Lunch Bunch” club. Sharon had many lifelong friends whom she loved dearly. Sharon was a bookkeeper by trade, but her passion was her family. She simply loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her warmth and tenderness will be missed by everyone who was blessed enough to have her in their life.
Sharon’s family will receive friends for a visitation on Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home 37000 Six Mile, Livonia, Michigan 48152.
