

Sheila Marie Gatzke, born November 03, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan, to Norman and Rose Ellen (Dailey) McLeod, passed away surrounded by her beloved family on March 21, 2024. Sheila's life was defined by a vibrant spirit and boundless love for family.
In fact, in Sheila’s world, it was all about family. She shared 25 years of love and companionship with her devoted husband, Ross, by her side through every challenge and every triumph. Sheila was the rock of the family, relishing her role as mother to her three children, Eric (Kristy) Thill, Bradley (Michele) Thill, and Andrea (Justin) Barker.
Sheila was a guiding light to her five grandchildren, Darren, Ella, Annabell, Lucas, and Sienna, all of whom were a source of immeasurable joy and pride. And Sheila's family extended beyond bloodlines, including four stepchildren, Greta Gatzke, Franz (Chloe) Gatzke, Diana (Robert) Dailey, and Robert Robbins, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
Sheila also leaves behind her sister, Megan, two stepsisters, Barbara and Elizabeth, and step-mother Mary, all of whom have shared her joys and supported her through life's challenges. And her nieces and nephews, Emily, Ashley, Catherine, and Adam, were all cherished parts of her extended family.
Faith was the essential element of Sheila’s life. She made a point of stressing to all her extended family the importance of a heart that cultivates a relationship with our Lord in all things.
Sheila found joy in creative pursuits. She loved crafting and artwork, finding great joy creating with her own hands. She was also passionate about cooking and interior design.
Sheila had an enduring love of the natural world. She was devoted to caring for the beach and guarding the well-being of the endangered turtle population. She treasured the majestic Rocky Mountains and was particularly fond of hiking along sections of the Appalachian Trail.
Her adventurous spirit was boundless. Sheila was a seasoned traveler, from Europe to Mexico and Hawaii. And her snow skiing adventures included New England, Colorado, Utah, Alberta, and British Columbia. She also was an avid soccer player, and later a pickleball aficionado, relishing teamwork and camaraderie.
Sheila's family will celebrate her life with a service at Ward Presbyterian Church at 11am on Friday, May 3, 2024. Gathering at the church will begin at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, to honor Sheila's memory, the family suggests donations to Angela Hospice in Livonia, MI. The family is eternally grateful to this non-profit organization for their compassionate care, comfort and support during Sheila's final days.
Though Sheila may no longer walk among us, her spirit will continue to live in the hearts of all who were touched by her selfless love.
