
In 1942 he answered the call to serve his country. Stanley served in Europe as a radio mechanic in the 10th Airborne Squadron during WWII.
Following his discharge from the military he began working for Burroughs until retiring. He continued his service to the community as a member of the Knights of Columbus. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards, particularly pinochle, shopping and square dancing with his late wife, Madelene, and in later years with his dear friend Gladys. He and Madelene enjoyed their life in Redford until her passing in 1992. Following which he moved to Dearborn where he continued to live in good health until February.
Stan was the loving husband of the late Madelene. The beloved father of the late Steve (Joyce), Mary (Jeff) Karr and Kenneth (Nancy) and the cherished grandfather of Erin (Bruce) Bowles, Joanna, Nicole Karr, Valerie and Alyssa. He is preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Clara and siblings Joseph (Elizabeth) and Sophie (John) Michalski.
Stan's family will receive friends on Saturday March 24, 2012 from 12:30 am until the time of his Funeral Mass at 2 pm at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 N. Haggerty Rd. (3 blocks south of Five Mile) in Plymouth. Immediately following the Mass there will be Military Honors preformed by the United States Air Force to honor Stan's military service.
Stanley will be laid to rest next to his wife at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery in Southgate.
