OBITUARY

Suheil M. Ajluni

February 20, 1931December 15, 2013

Suheil Mahfouz Ajluni was born on February 20, 1931 in what was then Jaffa, Palestine. The 4th child of 6 to Mahfouz and Maria Ajluni, Suheil grew up in Ramallah, Palestine. He was educated at a Quaker Friends School. He emigrated to the United States at age 18, entering college at the University of Detroit Jesuit school. There, he studied civil engineering, ultimately becoming certified as a professional engineer working for the State of Michigan Transportation Department. Over the next 40 years he became production design specialist and ran a group that designed bridges throughout the highways of Michigan, retiring in 1997. He briefly served as a consultant for FEMA after his retirement from the State of Michigan helping to provide engineering support for natural disasters.

Suheil was married to Catherine (Katrina) Ajluni and the father of Emeel, Steven, and Karen, all of whom survive him as well as 9 grandchildren. These include Majid, Nader, Romi, and Faris (Emeel and his wife Elizabeth), Steven, David, and Claudia (Dr. Steven and his wife Samar), and Andrew and Matthew (Karen and her husband Dr. Joseph Timpone).

Visitation on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 between 6-8pm at The Basilica of St. Mary, 18200 Merriman Rd. in Livonia, with the Trisagion Prayer service beginning at 7:30pm. Funeral Service on Thursday, December 19, 2013 Beginning at 9:30am.
