Susan L. Bayer

Beloved wife of Richard E. Bayer for 52 wonderful years. She was the loving mother of Chris (Alice) Bayer, Brian (Hope) Bayer, and Adam (Leslie) Bayer, and grandmother of Kaitlin, Cameron, Alexander, Samantha, Elizabeth, Amelia, Morgan, Caleb and Violet. Dearest sister of Lynn (Tim) Delaney, Leslie Gizowski, and David (Karen) Gizowski.

Susan was preceded in death by her two parents, Casimer and Bess Gizowski, as well as her brothers Mark and Steven, and her sister, Nancy.

Susan grew up in Livonia and attended Livonia Franklin High School. After high school, Susan attended Michigan State University where she met and fell in love with Richard. They married in 1970 and celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary this past September.

Richard and Susan were lifelong members of Meadowbrook Country Club and were well known to the entire MCC family as were their children and their families. The Bayer’s are currently or were formally involved in swimming and golf over several decades. Susan and Richard resided in Northville. They also shared a beautiful home in Scottsdale where they often hosted friends, family, or golfing buddies. Susan was a member of The First Methodist Church of Northville.

Susan was stricken with breast cancer a little over 14 years ago. She was an In-Home Hospice patient for the last 5 weeks of her life. She received extraordinary care from her loving and devoted husband as well as her sons, their wives, and children. She was also attended to in her final weeks by her two sisters, Lynn (Tim) Delaney, and Leslie Gizowski.

Susan will long be remembered by those who loved her. Visitation and services are as follows…

A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 4-8pm and Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 2-8pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home: 37000 Six Mile Rd., Livonia, Michigan 48152.

Memorial service, Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 10am at First United Methodist Church: 777 Eight Mile Rd, Northville, MI 48167.
