Sue was born on October 15, 1956, and raised in Detroit, the beloved daughter of the late Eleanor and John Kwasnik. She shared 49 years of marriage with her husband, James Nomura, building a life centered around family, love, laughter, and countless memories.
Suzanne was the proud mother of Mary Beth (Donald), Nicholas (Rachel), and Laura (William), and the deeply loved “G-Ma” of Daniel, Isabella, Joshua, Benjamin, Evelyn, Ivy, Penelope, and Hazel. Being a mother and grandmother was one of the greatest joys of her life. She showed her love by simply always being there. Birthdays, sporting events, celebrations, milestones, and all of the ordinary moments in between—if it mattered to her family, it mattered to Sue.
She was a beloved sister to her five siblings Kathleen (Frank), Kenneth (Sue), Sally (Brian), John (Joyce), James and JoAnne.
She was, in so many ways, the glue that held her family together.
Sue was thoughtful, generous, kind, and wonderfully funny. She loved being around people and had many different circles of friends throughout her life. She had a way of making connections, keeping friendships, and finding reasons to get together and celebrate.
And Sue certainly knew how to celebrate. She loved hosting, especially her family's Christmas celebrations, and no one could throw a Christmas party quite like she could. Her home was a place where family gathered, traditions were made, and memories were created year after year.
Sue had an eye for making things beautiful. She was handy and crafty, loved gardening, and had a natural sense of design and fashion. She also loved her jewelry—and few things could compete with a good trip to TJ Maxx.
More than anything, Sue loved her family fiercely. At the heart of that family was the life she built with Jim, her husband and partner of 49 years. Their nearly five decades together were filled with the everyday moments and milestones that make up a lifetime—raising their three children, welcoming eight grandchildren, building a home, celebrating holidays, and watching the family they created grow.
She was immensely proud of her children, adored her grandchildren, and spent her life showing the people around her how much they mattered. Her thoughtfulness could be found in the little things she remembered, the celebrations she created, the places she showed up, and the countless ways she cared for the people she loved.
Her family will miss her humor, her generosity, her style, her celebrations, and the unmistakable presence she brought into their lives. The traditions she created and the love she poured into her family will continue through her children, grandchildren, and everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sue's life on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 4:00–8:00 p.m. at Harry J. Will Funeral Home in Livonia, Michigan.
Funeral services will be held on **Thursday, October 15, 2026—what would have been Suzanne's 70th birthday—**at St. Aidan Catholic Church in Livonia. Visitation will take place from 9:00–9:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 9:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Gilda's Club Detroit. Sue found so much support and formed many meaningful friendships there during the last couple of years.
It feels especially fitting that on Sue's 70th birthday, the people whose lives she filled with so much love will gather together to celebrate hers.
Sue spent her life showing up for the people she loved. Her family will carry forward the traditions, celebrations, laughter, and love that she so carefully created.
