Theresa Joan Wiktor, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, at the age of 85. She was born on December 23, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, to John and Phyllis Lipiec.
Theresa graduated from Ladywood High School where she was the salutatorian of the graduating class of 1957 and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree and teacher’s certification from the University of Detroit. On June 24, 1966, she married the love of her life, Ronald, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, family, and faith.
She began her career as an elementary school teacher with Livonia Public Schools. When teaching jobs were not available, she went back to school to earn a second major as a legal assistant and then went on to work for Miller Canfield law firm and Comerica bank. She really enjoyed the atmosphere of working in downtown Detroit.
Faith was the cornerstone of Theresa’s life with a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. A devoted parishioner of St. Edith Catholic Church for over 50 years, she served on the parish council, distributed communion, assisted with funerals and luncheons, washed church linens, and worked as an aide at St. Edith Elementary School. Theresa was also a generous volunteer, giving her time to the Red Cross and the Dominican literacy program. The thing she loved best about this work was interacting with many diverse groups of people.
Theresa had many joys in life. She enjoyed sewing and knitting, but most of all, she loved her family. She was a true social butterfly who never met a stranger, always sharing her warmth and kindness with everyone she encountered. She sincerely loved to learn more about every person she met.
She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 59 years, Ronald; her children Lynne (Tom) Anderzak, Patricia (Steve) Wieland, and John (Amy) Wiktor; her cherished grandchildren Kate, Ryan, Sydney, Emily, Brooks, Nicholas, and Antonia; and her brother, Edward Lipiec. In addition to her parents, Theresa is preceded in death by her brother Walter.
Memorial contributions may be made in Theresa’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
