Victoria Kate Westman, 36, of Detroit, Michigan, passed away on September 30, 2025. Born on August 1, 1989, in London, Ontario, Victoria brought light and compassion into the lives of all who knew her.
Victoria was raised in Novi, Michigan, where she formed lifelong bonds with a close-knit group of friends and developed a deep love of literature, community, and service. She graduated from Novi High School and went on to earn a graduate degree in English Literature from Grand Valley State University. Her love of reading and writing was matched only by her commitment to justice, equity, and kindness.
Guided by an unwavering sense of purpose, Victoria dedicated her life to combating food insecurity. Whether preparing meals for loved ones or volunteering at local food banks, she believed deeply in the power of nourishment—of both body and soul—as a form of love and solidarity. She gave selflessly and without expectation, always with a warm smile and a generous heart.
Victoria is survived by her loving parents, Charles and Paula Westman; her devoted sister, Jessica Westman; and her adoring grandparents, Veronica and Leslie Kevan. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Ross Westman and Catherine Westman.
Her legacy of compassion and quiet strength will live on in the countless lives she touched and the communities she helped nourish.
A celebration of her beautiful life will be held on Saturday, 10/11/2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd, Livonia, MI 48152.
Eulogies by her sister, Jessica Westman, and lifelong friend, Lauren Phillips, will take place at 3:00 p.m., with encouraged open memory sharing to follow.
Victoria loved the art of letter writing and the written word. She sent cards and letters throughout her life and often wrote sweet, thoughtful notes to her friends—tiny, lasting gestures of love and connection. In her honor, we kindly ask those who are able to bring a letter of love or memory to be displayed alongside her photos—a tribute to the way she touched others through her words.
A wake will follow the celebration of life at 6pm at Gatsby’s in Novi
45701 Grand River Ave.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Victoria’s memory to Gleaners Community Food Bank of Detroit at https://donor.gcfb.org/page/mowdownhunger, a cause that reflects her lifelong dedication to feeding and caring for others.
