Wanda was born in Pellston, Michigan, one of eleven children of Walter and Sophie Jurek. She spent her early years in Petoskey before settling in Livonia, where she built a beautiful life filled with love, dedication, and laughter.
She was the beloved wife of the late Donald A. Stowe, with whom she shared over 52 cherished years of marriage—years filled with unwavering love, partnership, and countless treasured memories. Together, they raised a wonderful family, and Wanda was the proud and devoted mother of Cindy L. Stowe, Christine (Vincent) Pylar, and the late Daniel (Karen) Stowe. She was a loving and doting grandmother to Ryan (Morgan Maker) Pylar, Matthew (Courtney) Stowe, the late Emily Stowe, Madeline Stowe, and Gillian (Alban Shekaj) Pylar, and a proud great-grandmother to Gavin Stowe and Grayson Stowe. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family, celebrating their accomplishments, and sharing in their laughter.
Wanda was a woman of intelligence, determination, and grace. She valued education deeply and was the first woman in her family to earn a college degree—an achievement she took great pride in. She graduated from Mercy College of Detroit with a degree in Medical Records Administration. She dedicated many years to serving veterans as the Director of Health Information Management at the U.S. Veterans Healthcare system, working in Ann Arbor, Allen Park, and Detroit. Her work was not just a career but a calling—one that allowed her to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those who served our country.
Outside of her professional life, Wanda had a wonderful spirit and a playful heart. She loved bingo, crocheting, and cooking—her kitchen was always filled with the delicious aroma of home-cooked meals and the warmth of her hospitality. She also had a surprising competitive streak when it came to Wii Bowling, a game she took great joy in mastering!
Above all, Wanda was a woman of faith, kindness, and quiet strength. She faced life's challenges with resilience and grace, always placing family and faith at the center of everything she did. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love she gave so freely will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
