Beloved husband of 60 and a half years to Margaret Garrett, they would have made 61 years married in August. Their marriage was a true partnership, filled with love, laughter, and a lifetime of shared memories. Loving dad of Michael (Lisa) Garrett, Michelle (Tim) Sellers, and Melina (Anthony) Holyszko. Cherished grandpa of Megan (Nick) Walters, Matthew (Keyra) Garrett, Hunter (Lindsey) Sellers, Gage Sellers, Austin Holyszko, and Alec Holyszko and great-grandpa of Charles, Victoria, Lincoln, Theodore, Evelyn, Adalyn, and Avery. Dear brother of the late Sharon Oskarik and Sandy (the late Lloyd) Charping.
Wayne worked at J.L. Hudson’s for over 40 years, where he built not only a long and dedicated career, but also many lasting friendships. He started selling carpet at the downtown location and then transferred to Westland when that location opened. His friendly personality and strong work ethic made him someone people trusted and enjoyed being around. He was in the Air Force, serving his country with honor, a role he carried with quiet pride throughout his life.
He especially loved spending quality time with his family and his grandkids, who filled his days with laughter and meaning. Some of his most treasured memories were made at the cottage, where he embraced lake life and the simple joys that came with it. Whether he was fishing, swimming, waterskiing, or sunbathing, Wayne was happiest near the water with the people he loved. Those peaceful, sun-filled days created the moments his family will hold close forever. Wayne was really known for his infectious smile by all who remember him, a smile that made others feel welcome, comfortable, and cared for. His warmth had a way of brightening every room he entered.
