William John Bonnici

Beloved Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather

William “John” Bonnici was born in Toronto, Ontario on February 22, 1920 to John and Frances. He passed away on July 17, 2013 at the age of 93 and will be sadly missed by all who knew and love him.

He is a loving brother to Frank ( deceased), Ed (Elsie), Larry(Margaret) and Theresa Litke (Will-deceased)

John married Jenny, his high school sweetheart on August 1, 1939 and they were fortunate to enjoy 63 wonderful years together before she passed in 2002. They were not only husband and wife but best friends. Together they raised four children Jeanette (Stan), Sharon(Elvin) , Ron (Mary) and David (Ellie). They have 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

John’s hobbies included gardening, golf and he loved to take long walks. He was a very talented artist. Family reunions and Sunday dinners with family were always fun and laughter flowed, mostly with his one liners and jokes.

He lived in Toronto and later in Detroit, Redford Township, Westland and Livonia. As his health declined he was fortunate to be under the care of the wonderful staff at Fox Run in Novi. They treated dad as “family” and called him a “gentle giant”.

John had a gentle disposition, loved a good joke and was kind and loving. He worked at several different jobs throughout his life and only retired at age 80 to care for Jenny who’s health was failing.

Visitation Friday July 19, 2013 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home 37000 Six mile Rd. in Livonia. Rosary and family reading will be at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral service Saturday July 20, 2013. In state 11:30 am until the time of Mass at 12:00 pm at St. Colette Catholic Church 17600 Newburgh Rd. in Livonia.
